Position Description:

The Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO) is a Parastatal Organization established by an Act of Parliament No. 28 of 1973 to plan, co-ordinate, promote and offer a variety of services of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). SIDO now seeks to appoint a creative, innovative, highly self-motivated and self-directing person with a sense of purpose and commitment to the Organization to apply for the following position.

The Director General is the Chief Executive Officer of the Organization and is responsible to the Board of Directors for the performance of the functions and management of the affairs of SIDO.

Qualifications, Experience And Skills Required

Have a Masters Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering from recognized University and/or college plus relevant work experience of at least 10 years of senior managerial level. Additional qualifications will be an added advantage.

Have good knowledge of SMEs sector and SMEs policy.

Have good knowledge of SIDO especially its vision, mission, objectives, structure, policies, functions to be performed and thorough experience of issues concerning the growth of 'Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise sector.

Be able to take complete and proper care of all the projects / programmes and assignments which may come under the Organization.

Be committed to prove him/her and have high managerial and leadership qualities.

To act as the leading interface between the Board and Management and maintain cordial relations with SI~O's major stakeholders especially the Government, donors, and some key financial institutions. .

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Professional education and training in MSMEs will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Initiates, consolidates and enhances the existing' integrated and comprehensive programmes in action-oriented planning, promotion, coordination and development of SME sector and introduces other programmes in technology, innovation and technical services, training and extension services, marketing and financial services delivery. Develops and supervises the development of proposals for the Organization's strategy and policies, for submission to the Board and Government. Approves the Organization's annual work plans, reports and financial statements and submit summaries to the Board for final approval. Identifies domestic and external sources of financial and human resources. Represents and promotes the Organization at the national level, and maintains relations with the Government, donors and organizations relevant to the micro and medium enterprise sector. Promotes SIDO's mission and policies throughout the Organization Responsible for the overall management of the Organization. Demonstrates great skill in directing day to day operations for maximum results.

Salary Scale

The salary scale for this post will be SDEMSS 3.
