POSITION TITLE: TRAINING MANAGER

REPORTS TO: GM Commerce

General Summary:
The Incumbent is responsible for designing and implementing the technical training plan for building the capacity of management and staff and management lending to ensure that the bank meets its business goals.
 
Description:
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Management of Individual Lending Training In collaboration with GMC and HHR, recruit, train, support and motivate credit staff
  • Develop the technical training plan according to the business needs.
  • Oversee and deliver the individual lending trainings in a close collaboration with the team of in-house trainers.
     
Training Systems Development
  • Develop and update the training manuals, modules and materials in collaboration with the GMC and his/her staff and with the joint agreement of the management team
  • Work with the ICT Department to ensure that the management and staff understand and utilize effectively the MIS.
     
Supervision and Monitoring
  • Together with the GM Commerce, control the correct application of policies, norms and procedures at the branch level and ensure that business processes are working according to procedures;
  • Provide input and feedback to the GM Commerce and his/her Department regarding the implementation of training as an integral part of PMS i.e. performance management system.
     
Training Reporting
  • Prepare regular reports on the training team’s progress in implementing its annual plan of deliverables.
  • Coordinate and evaluate training in the field as part of continuing education for the new LOs.
     
Financial Planning and Management
  • Develop annual plans and budgets for the trainings to be delivered;
  • Monitor unit expenses within the budget parameters;
  • Fulfill all other functions and duties as required by the GM Commerce.
Requirements:
Core Competencies Required:
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong credit methodology and process skills
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to assess credit applications and think strategically using financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to present financial information effectively to both specialists and non-specialists. 
  • Understanding of portfolio management software packages, preferably familiarity with T24. 
  • Knowledge of individual lending methodology for commercial microfinance.
  • Mastery of pedagogy or adult learning techniques 
Requirements: 
Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, finance or related area of study, or an appropriate level of work experience.
  • Five years of senior credit management or training experience in the microfinance sector, using an individual lending methodology.
  • Experience with portfolio management software packages, preferably familiarity with T24.
