John Bocco
A John Bocco hatrick inspired Azam to a 3-1 hammering of last year's Cecafa Kagame Cup finalists Simba in a highly entertaining game played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday.
Bocco broke the deadlock with a fine header from an Ibrahim Shikanda sublime cross in the 18th minute.
Azam continued their forages upfront with keeper Juma Kasseja being put to task to save blistering shots from the marauding Azam strikers.
On second half resumption Bocco curled in his brace in the 46th minute after a defensive lapse by Simba as the scores stood at 2-0 in favour of Azam.
Somari Kapombe pulled a goal for Simba in the 53rd minute with a screamer that beat Azam keeper Deogratius Munishi all the way.
It was Bocco’s deay however and he sealed the win for Azam with another fine finish in the 75th minute after receiving a beautiful pass from substitute Jabir Aziz to crown his day with a fantastic hatrick.
