Accountant

Position Description:
Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) is an apex private sector member based organization mandated to develop and promote horticulture (flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs and horticultural seeds) in Tanzania. TAHA’s goal is to improve the growth and competitiveness of horticultural industry in the country for social and economic gains. TAHA is a strong voice, representing farmers at all levels, processors, exporters and service providers in the horticultural industry in Tanzania.
The Association is working at strengthening its Finance Department for improved services to the industry thereby having a permanent qualified Accountant to join the TAHA team. He or She will be stationed in Arusha and will be reporting to the Finance Manager.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Assisting the Finance Manager in developing, maintaining and analyzing budgets
· Perform monthly bank reconciliation for all TAHA accounts
· Ensuring all TAHA transactions are recorded and maintained in the accounting software
· Assist the Finance Manager in preparation and presentation of quarterly and annual financial reports.
· Preparing the association’s monthly statutory requirements
· Advising the Finance Manager on the association financial position and future plans
· Assisting the Finance Manager in developing, implementing and monitoring accounting control procedures
· Assisting the Finance Manager in financial audit preparation and coordinating the audit process
· Develop, maintain and advise on insurance schemes for TAHA properties
Other Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist with Credits management
· Any other duty as may be assigned by the Finance Manager
Qualifications and Experience
· A degree in the field of accountancy, finance or business administration with at least 3 year working experience in accountancy or finance;
· Experience in a development project, NGO, donor organization, association or any project-related organization will be an added advantage;
· Good analytical and interpretation skills;
· Computer literacy, i.e. Quick Books or related accounting software, word processing, spreadsheet and power point;
· Diligent, highly organized and self-motivated individual;
· Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines; and
· Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili is required;
Others:
· Preferable age is 25 - 40 years
