Position Description:
Pamoja Tuwalee is a project supported by the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief funding (PEPFAR II) through the United States Agency for International Development (U8AID), seeks to contribute to the Tanzanian Government's National Action Plan for Most Vulnerable Children by building the capacity of local initiatives to care for vulnerable children in difficult circumstances. The project is implemented in Tanzania (Tanga, Kilimanjaro, Manyara and Arusha Region) by World Education, Inc. in collaboration with the Tanzanian Government's Department of Social Welfare.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Economic Strengthening Coordinator, based in Arusha, will provide overall strategic and technical direction for economic strengthening activities and will be responsible for developing, managing and evaluating innovative, cross-cutting economic strengthening interventions for MVC caregivers and youth in the Northern Zone. The Economic Strengthening Coordinator will provide leadership, oversight, and technical expertise in the development and implementation of a comprehensive economic strengthening strategy for MVC and their caregivers. The Economic Strengthening Coordinator will collaborate with other donor and implementing partner ES efforts and strengthen and reinforce linkages with other program and community services.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
With guidance from the Senior Technical Advisor and Chief of Party, at the beginning of each fiscal year, the Economic Strengthening Coordinator will develop and/or update the economic strengthening strategy. The economic strengthening strategy will reflect the new PEPFAR OVC Guidance and the National Costed Plan of Action, include internal savings and lending groups (WORTH and SILC), a variety of income generating activities appropriate for both rural and urban settings, and will also integrate kitchen gardens and nutrition education.
Work collaboratively with M&E Advisor and Senior Technical Advisor to develop a planning matrix for economic strengthening targets as they relate to the PMP.
Provide guidance and support to World Education, Inc staff and implementing partners to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and tools to roll out the economic strengthening strategy. Ensure appropriate economic strengthening activities - especially follow up activities - are included in implementing partner work plans, budgets, and PMPs.
Work collaboratively with M&E advisor and Senior Technical Advisor to ensure that templates/guides for reporting economic strengthening activities are included in partner quarterly reporting template.
Work collaboratively with M&E advisor and Senior Technical Advisor to ensure that adequate baseline data is collected on all caregivers participating in internal savings and lending groups. Work collaboratively with M&E to develop data collection forms for all data related to ES activities that implementing partners need to report on.
Ensure regular support-supervision visits are conducted by World Education, Inc ES team members to partners to ensure quality of ES interventions.
Review quarterly economic strengthening results of all partners and provide feedback to partners during quarterly technical meetings on their progress.
Work with other World Education, Inc coordinators to ensure linkages between economic strengthening and other key areas such as advocacy, health, education, nutrition, and psychosocial support, and child protection.
Prepare quarterly economic strengthening summary report for World Education, Inc Pamoja Tuwaleequarterly report. Conduct weekly technical meetings with economic strengthening team to plan activities, coordinate field visits and ensure that work is on track. Provide support, mentoring and on the job training to all staff members involved in advocacy activities. Serve as a focal person for implementing partners as needed. Perform related duties as assigned by your supervisor or Chief of Party.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum Bachelor Degree in Business, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development or related discipline is required,
At least 5 years' experience in working with NGO and donor agency delivering agriculture, Livelihood or small business programs in rural areas
The incumbent should possess a broad range of experience in working with government agencies, strengthening farmers
